READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE CONNECTING YOUR
APPLIANCE TO THE GAS SUPPLY
These safety instructions should be retained for future reference
1. This appliance must only be installed by a registered LP Gas Installer and the installation is in
compliance with the requirements of SANS 10087-1. Illegal installations may invalidate your warranty
and could be dangerous.
2. Do not use this appliance in areas where there is not sufficient ventilation. This appliance consumes
oxygen and it is dangerous to use this appliance in areas where there is insufficient ventilation as this
may cause oxygen depletion and could endanger the life of the occupants of the area.
3. There are no user service points on this appliance. Servicing may only be done by a qualified
technician. Service intervals are not specified as this depends on the use and the care you give the
appliance. If any doubt as to the performance of the appliance call your dealer or the supplier. Do not
modify the appliance in any way as this may make it unsafe and your guarantee may become null en
void.
4. In the event of burn back (where the flame burns back to the jet), immediately turn off the gas supply
by turning the control knob to the off position. After ensuring that the flame is extinguished,wait for
1 minute and re-light the appliance in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Should the
appliance again burn back, close the valve and place a service call with your dealer or the supplier.
Do not use the appliance again until the service technician has declared that it is safe to do so.
5. Do not use the appliance if it is leaking gas (see notes below on how to check for a gas leak). Do
not check for gas leaks with a flame as this is extremely dangerous. To check for a gas leak ensure
all control taps on the appliance are tuned off and the gas supply is turned on to the appliance. Use
a brush dipped in a soapy water solution (e.g.: water with dish washing liquid added) and apply the
liquid by brush to the suspected areas such as the cylinder valve spindle or where the regulator
screws into the cylinder. Also check the connections between the hose and regulator and between
the hose and appliance. If there is a leak then bubbles will form. Should this happen, turn off the gas
supply at the cylinder valve. Inspect the condition of the seal fitted on the regulator and ensure that it
is in good condition. Refit the appliance to the cylinder and re-test using the soapy water solution. If
the leak persists then place a call with your dealer or the supplier.
6. Electrical supply socket/switch. If a gas leak is suspected on the appliance. Switch off electrical
supply at main board before unplugging or switching off supply at appliance socket. (in case of
electrical spark).
7. The appliance must be used with an approved 2.8 kPa low pressure regulator complying with the
requirements of SANS 1237. The type of gas for which the appliance is intended, LPG.
